Updates include new siding, new roofing, and new carpet, flooring and bathrooms. Please check the nature center website at www.maplewoodnaturecenter.com or call 249-2170 for on-going updates and closure information. Please Note: The parking lot remains closed until further notice. Three alternate trail entrances provide walkers access; parking is on the street. Depending on the construction, some fall program locations may change to one of our beautiful open space sites or parks. All participants will be notified as necessary. Thanks for your patience during this time. • Saturday, Oct. 28 — Outstanding Owls from 3 to 6 p.m.; for all ages. Originally scheduled at Maplewood Nature Center, the location has been changed to Bruentrup Heritage Farm, 2170 County Road D East, Maplewood. The cost is $8 a person and must be prepaid by Wednesday Oct. 26. Register early; space is limited. Meet an owl up close and learn what makes these creatures such a hoot. Enjoy a Raptor Center presentation at 3:30 p.m. From 4:30 to 6 p.m. older kids can dissect owl pellets, while younger ones make an owl craft. Learn owl calls and go on a night hike around the lake in search of our feathered friends. Dress for the weather. Treats and beverage provided. This event is co-sponsored by the Friends of Maplewood Nature. • Saturday, Nov. 4 — Hike Around the Pond from 2 to 3:30 p.m. for ages 5 and up with an adult. This event will be held at the Maplewood Nature Center, 2659 E. 7th Street. The cost is $5/ hiking stick and must be prepaid by Monday, Oct. 30 at www.maplewoodnaturecenter.com and click on the RegisterOnline-Go button, or call 249-2170
