CALL TO ORDER A meeting of the Heritage Preservation Commission was held in the City Hall Council Chambers and called to order by Chair Boulay at 7:03 p.m. B. ROLL CALL Commissioners Chairperson Peter Boulay Present Commissioner Bob Cardinal Present Commissioner Robert Creager Absent Commissioner Richard Currie Present Commissioner John Gaspar Present Commissioner Frank Gilbertson Present Commissioner Brenda Rudberg Present Staff Natural Resources Coordinator, Ginny Gaynor Present C. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA Commissioner Gilbertson requested the addition of the Alvalado Bell to the Commissioner Presentations section H3. Natural Resources Coordinator Ginny Gaynor requested the addition of the Presentation of the Annual Report to Council to the Staff Presentations section I1. Commissioner Gilbertson moved to approve the agenda as amended. Seconded by Commissioner Gaspar. Ayes – All The motion passed. D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. January 14, 2016 HPC Meeting Minutes Chairperson Boulay requested the removal of the date of December 10, 2015 from the bottom of the minutes pages. Commissioner Gaspar moved to approve the January 14, 2015 HPC Meeting Minutes as amended. Seconded by Commissioner Currie. Ayes – All The motion passed. E. NEW BUSINESS 1. Oath of Office Natural Resources Coordinator Ginny Gaynor swore in new Heritage Preservation Commissioner Bob Cardinal. Commissioner Cardinal gave a brief introduction and history regarding his application to the Heritage Preservation Commission. F. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 1. 2015 Demolition Report Natural Resources Coordinator Ginny Gaynor gave a presentation on the 2015 Demolition Report. Commissioner Currie moved to approve the 2015 Demolition Report. Seconded by Commissioner Gilbertson. Ayes – All The motion passed. 2. Gladstone Savanna Designation Natural Resources Coordinator Ginny Gaynor gave a presentation on the local designation of the Gladstone Savanna and then led discussion. Commissioner Gaspar moved to approve the goal to work on Local Designation of the Gladstone Savanna. Seconded by Commissioner Currie. Ayes – All The motion passed. 3. 2016 Goals Natural Resources Coordinator Ginny Gaynor gave a presentation on the 2016 goals. Commissioners then organized, discussed, and volunteered for individual goals. Commissioner Currie moved to approve the 2016 Goals. Seconded by Commissioner Gaspar. Ayes – All The motion passed. G. VISITOR PRESENTATION 1. Maplewood Area Historical Society (MAHS) Maplewood Area Historical Society had nothing to present at this meeting. H. COMMISSION PRESENTATIONS 1. 60 Stories Project – Ski Jump Commissioner Rudberg gave an update on the 60 Stories Project, a historical summary of the Carver Lake Ski Jump. 2. Update on Obtaining List with Building Ages Commissioner Gaspar gave an update on the progress of obtaining a list of building ages. 3. Alvalado Bell Commissioner Gilbertson made mention of snow piling up on the Alvalado Bell; staff will have snow plow crews discontinue this practice. I. STAFF PRESENTATIONS 1. Presentation of Annual Report to Council Natural Resources Coordinator Ginny Gaynor indicated the scheduled presentation before the City Council will be February 22, 2016. J. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Gaspar moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Rudberg. Ayes – All The motion passed. The meeting was adjourned at 8:35pm. th Next meeting is March 10.
