Review - July 16, 2017 Submitted by admin on Wed, 07/19/2017 - 3:18pm Maplewood Senior Advisory Task Force The Maplewood Senior Advisory Task Force meets the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting is at 10 a.m. Aug. 8 at Maplewood City Hall, 1830 County Rd B E., and the group will discuss concerns such as senior housing, transportation, safety, caregiving services and social opportunities, and they will develop a plan of action to present to the city council. Grand opening of Oakdale Goldfish Swim School A grand opening event for Goldfish Swim School will be held July 29 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at the new Oakdale location, 7055 10th St. N., Suite 100. Event highlights include family swim, face painting, balloon twisting, arts and crafts, complimentary snacks, a photo booth and much more. This event is free and open to the public. Saint Therese Golf Open On Aug. 17, Saint Therese, a senior care nonprofit, will host their annual golf tournament at Oak March Golf Course, 526 Inwood Ave. N. There will be a noon shotgun start and scramble format. Registration is $150 per golfer and includes 18 holes of golf, a golf cart, box lunch and buffet dinner. Bookawocky Tuesday: fire trucks at the library The firefighters from the Oakdale Fire Department will give safety tips, demonstrate equipment and bring fire trucks for people of all ages to explore. No registration is required. The event will be held Tuesday, July 25, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Oakdale Public Library, 1010 Heron Ave. N. Support group for young adults Young Adult NAMI Connection is a free support group for teens aged 16-20. A group meets in White Bear Lake from 7 to 8:30 p.m., on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at the Dental Office of Dr. Crandall & Associates, 2300 East Highway 96. Toastmasters International weekly meeting Join Toastmasters International at the next weekly meeting July 24 to see how they can help you with your communication and leadership goals. Listen at the library: sheltered reality Sheltered Reality is a musical performance group who teach that music can have meaning, yet be a blast at the same time. They use drums set to music, as well as choreography, to motivate audiences to believe that anyone, at any age, can dream and succeed. This engaging performance is fun for the whole family. If the weather is nice, the performance will be outside, so bring a blanket or chair. The event will be Thursday, July 20, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Oakdale Public Library, 1010 Heron Ave. N.
