An article written by Pat Williamson for distribution to local newspapers was updated and revised before submitting to papers. COMMUNICATIONS Pat had received a letter from Peter Buckley, New Ulm HRC, informing us of an exhibit titled "The Mentally Retarded, Our Neglected Minority" which can be shared by any interested commissions for display in their communities sometime in June. The consensus of the members was to ask for more specific infonaation regarding liability and transportation of exhibit. Sue will contact the Maplewood Branch Library as a possible location to show the exhibit. Pat had received a letter from Linda Johnson, Minn. Dept. of Human Rights Commissioner, informing us that Syl Booth, Enforcement Officer 2, has been assigned as a staff liaison to our commission. She will be available to provide outreach and educational information relating to the Minnesota Human Rights Act in the near future. Minnesota League of Human Rights has opened an office at 2500 New Brighton Blvd., Suite 210 Minneapolis. Their phone number is: 788-5500. William Davis has been hired as a con- sultant and will act as executive director. The League informed us that an international conference is being planned for October at Spring Hill Conference Center on Discrimination in Religion. More information forthcoming. The League requested that cities celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day send information on to them.
