Call to Order II. Approval of Minutes - not a quorum Dr. Martin Luther King events - Jim and Karla attended concert for Dr. Martin Luther King at the University of Minnesota. Karla also attended conference on Racism at Minnesota History Center. Bill Wilson chaired the conference. Open Forum on Racism at White Bear was attended by Karla. *" 'co -- ll ' i' )cuA c c �,cam V" III. Old Business A. Diversity Award - Follow-up contacts made by Mike, Jim , Gordy, and Karla - �'� '- re: possible schools who will be participating in the Diversity Awareness Award Contest. B. Business Outreach Letter - Three letters received back from businesses in Maplewood. Copies will be sent out to members for their review and comments. Their comments will be reviewed at March meeting and suggestions made as to what kind of response we will make to the companies participating. C. Hate Crime Response - Gail had a draft for review by the committee. Members will be reviewing the draft and be prepared to make any changes at the March meeting. Gail will meet with the Maplewood Chief of Police to determine how hate crimes are defined and if we can get a quarterly incidence of these types of crimes. IV. New Business A. League of MN Human Rights Campaign - Personal pledge campaign B. No Fault Grievance Referral Procedure - will be discussed further at the March meeting. C. Dawn Vassar's resignation was discussed. A letter of appreciation will be sent by Karla. Gail will investigate the files for possible resolution to be sent from the Mayor and Council to Dawn? D. Discussion on what to give out at the Maplewood Open House to advertise the Maplewood Human Rights Commission Activities. Key chain, Maple leaf pin, buttons, or perhaps balloons were suggested.
