Gordon Heininger Dawn Vassar Pat Williamson James Garrett Gail Blackstone Mike McGuire I. Call to Order II. Minutes Minutes had not been typed so they could not be approved. III Old Business A. DIVERSITY AWARENESS AWARD - CRITIQUE It was the general consensus that we had better than average publicity this year. Other commissions should get our flyer re: Our Human Rights Day Award, Eden Prairie sent their notice to all commissions. School Board meeting in District 622 mentioned very briefly in their Board highlights about our program on January 15th regarding our Human Rights Day. It was suggested we meet with Eden Prairie commission people to exchange ideas for a better Human Rights Day next year. Each commission member is to come up with two ideas on how to better improve next years projected Human Rights . d for discussion at the next meeting of the commission. 4 B. HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD {% GC_3r,? ivc1w+Ed o1S) r, Qr ,maw 5 ` It was suggested that commission members ce�ith some nines for nomination of the award. Gordy - Churches, Karla & Pat - School Districts Dawn - Rotary, Jim - Chamber of Commerce Calls to be made within the next two weeks. It was decided to put in another ad for a new member since the one selected did not show for our meeting. IV. New Business Discussion of the Human Rights Goal ensued. Gail will rewrite and edit the Human Rights Goal for the Comprehensive Plan using the commission's criteria for the Human Rights Award as printed in our 1990 Annual Report. The 1991 Annual Report was suggested pages in part be numbered. Karla will go through 1990 Annual Report and make changes if necessary for approval at the next meeting. V. Reports 1. League met in January discussion on no-fault grievance process suggested that commissions are not properly trained for mediating these grievances so state will continue to handle them? 2. City of Maplewood - Mike McGuire reported on a two-day workshop - discussion focused on identity and city service needs. Attended by Council and City Hall department heads. 3. Grievances - Gail mentioned the status of two current grievances.
