Minutes approved as printed. Motion by Jim, seconded by Gordy.
I. Call to Order
II. Old Business
A. School District Integration Project - Discussion centered around survey and
membership and focused on why people moved from city to suburbs - moved
to escape integration problems and turmoil of the city. Why would someone
want to move from St. Paul to North St. Paul - because good sales and
marketing scheme sit up by North St. Paul area. Group needs to determine
what its goal should be and get further representation from other city and
suburban areas.
B. Bank willing to give $500.00 for the Diversity Awareness Award Program.
C. Business Outreach Letter - draft letter approved to be sent to 50 businesses
in Maplewood. Gail to send out and to provide a list of those businesses to
each commission member next month.
III. New Business
A. Commissioner Reappointments - Gordon and Karla were asked if they want
to be reappointed to the Commission. They indicated they would.
B. Annual Report - to be put on agenda and changes made at the December
meeting of the Commission.
IV. Reports
A. League of MN - Human Rights Commission
B. City of Maplewood - Gail to fill in about combining North St. Paul and
Maplewood police forces.
C. Grievances - none.
D. Other - Rochester orientation to MN Human Rights Act, Jim Garrett
reviewed outline of the meeting topics. Jim will supply a copy of all the
material he was given at the meeting to be made available later to all
members.
