Minutes
Present members: Elmo Mattox, Rita Ander, Gordy Heininger, Joan Wurdeman and Donna Brown. Ex-
Officio: Colleen Callahan
I. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m.
II. Approval of Minutes: A motion was made to approve minutes as written. It was seconded and it
was passed.
III. Approval of Agenda: A motion was made to approve agenda. It was seconded and it was passed.
IV. Visitor Presentation
A. Marion Helland a member of Human Rights in Golden Valley and Minnesota Human
Relations. Marion was born in Iowa. Immigrants from Norway. She dressed, ate and lived
as Norwegians, which made her different. Teacher is Iowa, Minnesota and Hamlin
University, professor, counseling. Worked for Martin Luther King in 1960's. Human Rights
movement slowed to a crawl in 1968.
V. Old Business
A. Accessibility Project - Letter to stores visited - Joan to make draft.
B. Peace Campaign - Lynn Elling to meet with principals on 10th. Will verify contact person
for each school.
C. Objectives - Remove from agenda until later.
D. Maplewood In Motion - Elmo had handout to share- whole page (Business Resource Page)
VI. Adjournment - Meeting was adjourned at 9:38 p.m. Next meeting will be Feb. 6, 2001 at 7:00
p.m.
