MAPLEWOOD HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION
June 2, 1981
Present: Lucille Bryant, Jim Haynes, Sister Claire Lynch,
Scott Rostron,Pat Williamson, Robert Williamson
Regrets: Maria Larsen, Earl Marlow, Peter Fischer
Meeting was called to order at 7:45 p.m. by Secretary Williamson who
chaired the meeting.
Minutes of the April 7th meeting were approved as presented.
Bob Williamson distributed copies of the Human Rights Newsletter which
contained information on the 1981 Annual Meeting, to be held June 19
and 20 at the College of St. Thomas. Meeting theme will be: "What's
Holding Up Human Rights?" Registration fee is $25. Each person will
complete a registration form and Bob will mail them in collectively
with a check to be written against the Commission budget.
A news release announcing the election of our officers and listing other
Commission members was passed out by Secretary Williamson. The release
was sent to three radio stations, five newspapers, Maplewood in Motion
and the Human Rights Newsletter.
It was announced that Joe Benkovics had been contacted about continuing
on the Commission due to his absence at meetings. Because of other
commitments, he has decided to resign his membership.
Final review of the revised draft of the Annual Report took considerable
time and discussion among the members. Agreement was reached that the
Secretary incorporate final changes and send in the document to staff
liaison Williamson for reproduction. Chair Larsen will be sending in
several pieces of information for the appendices.
As the Commission anticipates no pressing business over the summer months,
it was decided that no additional meetings would be held until the Fall.
Should anything need discussion in June, members attending the Annual
Meeting could hold a short meeting at that time. Any other business
could be conducted by mail.
Meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
