date for our group and Peter will call in that recommendation. He will alert
thosa.who expressed interest once the date is settled, and time agreed upon.
The proposed Amendment to Ordinance No. 405, which would increase the
membership of the HRC to nine members, was not approved by the City Council.
Following discussion it was decided to resubmit the proposed change to
`*• the October 15 City Council Meeting at which time we will have at least two
commissioners on hand to support the proposal. In addition, commissioners
will telephone Council members to seek their support for the change.
Familial Housing--Peter Fisher reported that the Department of Human Rights
had not received his first letter, so another was sent to them. He will
keep us informed of any progress.
Accessibility Project - Maria will report on this at the next meeting.
New Right's Materials--Because of the large volume of materials, Peter
Fisher suggested it be split up into sections for study. Prior to the next '
meeting we will attempt to study the Task Force on Academic Freedom and also
try to find out if anything if happening locally relevant to this issue. At
the next meeting we will try to decide what can be done and if other pro-
fessional groups should be contacted. This should help us determine in
which area to proceed.
Chairman Fisher reported that no one from MHRC attended the Virginia Board
Meeting of the League. He distributed Minutes of the League Board Meeting
held at Plymouth, for information. Both Peter and Maria attended.
Bob Williamson briefly reported that an alleged employment discrimination
complaint has been filed with the DHR against the City of Maplewood.
