We have been very fortunate in the caliber of candidates that have been appointed to the Commission by the City in the past year or so; however, ideally we should have the opportunity for personal interaction. We also like the candidate to attend at least one business meeting. Minutes of February 12, 1984 : Approved League of MN Human Rights Commissions Williamson and Larsen attended board meeting of March 23. Each of us serves on a different committee. State planning NFG Training, comm. to include both State and League staff, to arrive at objectives for 1986. State would like the local commissions to get involved in NFG training. Metro Council establishing new committee: Minority Advisory Committee; League Chair, Tom Beaver is candidate for Chair. The State is going to "prioritize" the role of the local commissions . Tom Kuster is liaison for the League to the State Department. No Fault Grievance Case Update Pay equity case -- no longer with the company; still wants to pursue. Officers appointed: Williamson with trainee Hoyt (Eiden will be an alternate) . Since NF training programs have been suspended for the time being, our commission will use a certified commissioner and a non-certified commissioner to investigate complaints. The State Department approves of this format -- said it' s good on site experience for non-certified commissioners . Accessibility Letter - Rostron Motion: Write a letter to City with regard to accessibility study; federal regulations . Approved. It is the commission' s obligation to inform the council of federal and state laws that are applicable to our new city hall. An item was inserted by the City in the MAPLEWOOD IN MOTION but there are no commitments . Donald Moe said they will build near the present Public Works Building and are very aware that the new City Hall should be 100% accessible. However, plans did not address all accessibility issues. Scott pointed that out to Manager Evans and Barry said he would check it out. Williamson will contact Mary Lee Maida, who has been supportive of our commission activities ,about this matter but will wait until Scott' s letter has been received and digested. 2-MHRC Business Meeting 4/2/85 Heimerl Does not want to drop from the commission but is ill again and has not been at a meeting in about a year.
