Discussion on Human Rights Day Observances Bloomington sponsored an essay contest in the junior high schools . Will make a public award to the winner. Our commission: Sister Claire and Williamson working on an article for publication in the MAPLEWOOD REVIEW. We empowered them to submit the final draft without further contact with our commissioners . The article will hopefully run the week of December 4th, Human Rights Day. Suggested contacts be made with incumbent Maplewood Mayor and State Department Commissioner Johnson for a statement to be included in the article . Also suggestion that an early contact be made with the REVIEW to see if we can make it a special page 1 feature. Electronic or outdoor signs Eiden - Contact Ramsey County Home Larsen - Contact manager of Aldrich Arena Hoyt - Pat will call her to make the contact at the Maplewood State Bank. Sister - outdoor sign at Hill/Murray Message will read: WE SHARE THE DREAM HUMAN RIGHTS DAY DECEMBER 4 , 1985 MAPLEWOOD HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION HRA Liaison Williamson will contact Kwapick to see if new position responsi- bilities will interfere with taking over the liaison role to HRA. Eiden has requested release from this obligation. HRA News : No report 2-MHRC Business Minutes of November 5, 1986 Human Rights Award Rostron - contact with Volunteer Action Center. They have a lot of experience with such awards and we would like to tap into their expertise. Larsen - Tom Kuster of New Ulm and Carole Johnson of Bloomington. How did they go about implementing their awards . New Business Larsen leaving the MHRC after 17 years . Coincidentally, is the only member of the present group whose term expires in December. Has moved to North St. Paul. Will bring all records , cataloged to the December meeting. It will be decided at that time if the records should remain with the chair or with the secretary.
