Karla gave a report on the Human Rights Award . .contacted Chuck Wiger of the Suburban Chamber of Commerce about cooperation with the project . .article on nominations will be in the Chamber newsletter in November . .Chuck suggested giving the award in January for MLK Day . .presented a copy of the nomination form . .sent copy of newsrelease and form to the City Manager 2. Sister Claire reported back to the Commission that the term to use is American Indian. This is the year of reconciliation. 3. Scott reported on a prospective new member who will be a joint representative on the Housing & Redevelopment Commission. We need to put another notice in the newspaper on openings on the Commission. Scott will talk to John Prey and then recommend to City Council his appointment to the Commission. Karla will put the notice in the paper after she gets information from Scott; both the Maplewood and the Neighborhood Section of the St. Paul Dispatch. 4. Awaiting an update on the Biennial Report from Pat W. 5. Scott will talk to Clemens and Sue about participation on the Commission. 6. Karla should summarize her grievance and submit a report to the Department of Human Rights. 7. Sister Claire will talk to Pat about a grievance. 8. Scott said we need to ask the Department of Human Rights to inform the Commission on grievances that have been handled by them or referred to them from us. 9. Next meeting is November 10, 1987.
