MAPLEWOOD HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION
Tuesday, December 1 , 1987

Meeting was called to order by Scott Rostron, Chair, at approximately
7:15 p.m. Agenda items are as listed below:
I. Minutes
The following changes were noted in the November 10, 1987 minutes.
Attendees should include Pat Williamson
2. Delete the sentence "Award will be presented in January in
conjunction with the Maplewood City Council.
7. Change the name Karen to Karla.
10. Next meeting is scheduled for December 1.
Motion was made to accept the minutes with the above changes,
seconded and voted in favor.
II. Human Rights Award
There was approximately two hours of discussion on the award and
the nominations. The Commission decided it needed more information
on the nominees and decided to call another special meeting on
Tuesday, December 8 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall. In the meantime,
John would call the nominators and gather more information on the
nominees and present it to the members at this special meeting.
The recommendation needs to be to Mike by December 21 for the
December 28 City Council meeting.
III. Biennial Report
Pat Williamson gave the goals to Mike McGuire and the report should
be out by the Commission's next meeting.

IV. League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions Annual Meeting
Pat, Karla and Sister Claire will attend this meeting on Saturday,
December 5 as representatives of the Maplewood Commission.
Pat said she was head of the registration and if our funds didn' t
arrive prior to the meeting, we could still attend without paying
at the door.
V. City of Maplewood Annual Report - 1987 "
Will be distributed at the next meeting of the Commission:
VI. Terms of Office on the Commission
Scott will review the terms of office of the members to see if
anyone needs to be reappointed.
VII. Grievances
Scott said that if we cannot contact the persons on a grievance,
we need to document our attempts.
VIII. HUMAN RIGHTS Day
Human Rights Day is celebrated on Thursday, December 10.
Commission members will contact the newspapers, bank and nursing
homes for them to display messages.
