The finalists include one internal candidate and two chiefs from the police departments of nearby Twin Cities suburbs. Maplewood hopes to make a decision within the nexttwo weeks. The public will have a chance to meet the finalists and participate in a question-and- answer session next week. He began his career working for the Oak Park Heights Police Department, where he worked for 18 years. • Scott Nadeau, chief of police for the Columbia Heights Police Department for more than nine years. He also works as an adjunct professor at Metropolitan State University and the University of St. Thomas. • Michael Shortreed, police commanderforthe Maplewood Police Department, where he has worked since 1996. Shortreed previously worked with the Washington County sheriff's office and the White Bear Lake Police Department. Maplewood City Council will interview each finalist June 12 at City Hall. The interviews begin at 4:30 p.m. and will last for up to 45 minutes each. The interviews are open to the public. The public will get a chance to meet the candidates at 5:30 p.m. June 13 at City Hall, followed by a question-and-answersession at 6:15 p.m. The selected finalist will go through further background, psychological and other tests. http://www.twi ncities.com/2017/06/05/m apl ewood-pol i ce-chief-fi nal ists/ 2/3 6/6/2017 3 finalists chosen to replace retiring Maplewood police chief—Twin Cities City manager Melinda Coleman named Maplewood Police Lt. Kerry Crotty as the interim police chief. Crotty began with the department in 1996, serving as a police officer, police paramedic, retail crime officer and police sergeant before becoming lieutenant.
