Comment:
Much of the doubts and concerns of the Council, and in turn the
community, were aired and are the very things that the MHRC is con-
cerned with and has pledged to avoid if humanly possi b1 e e.g.lateral moves from poor housing and conditions to poor housing and
conditions; a setting apart of the Iow income family which automa-ti cal ly pegs them with a Iabel.

Dwight commented on the interesting meeting he and Mrs. Larsen
had attended on June lst which featured a series of four discussion
groups headed up by a housing resource person. It was suggestedthat the MHRC put on a program in the fall like that one. Possibiyget the Planning Commission pl us other neighboring communities to

"Rent Supplement - Item #2 - Subsidized housing resolution:
The passing of this part of the resolution is a formal procedure
which would have great meaning for interaction outside of the Vi11age.It would be a clear public indication that the Village of Maplewoodis telling the fundi ng agenci es that we are not antagonistic toward
low and moderate income housing if it neets sound standards; that
a certain percentage of such housinng be used for low income housing. In the eyes of HUD and the Metro Council, such a resolut.i on wouid be
viewed as an act of very firm intention; good on public record and
a necessity before any action can be taken or any proposal acted upon.
