Broady reported on a night uini-workshop heltl by St. CLoud Huaan Rights
Comnissionp which he and 0rant attended. Anong topics: St. Johnrs University-
St. Senetlictrs course in human relations for e lement ary-s e condary teachers
requiretl by $fate Eatucation Dgpartnent regulation as condition of re-
celtifLcation. Requirenent iloes not apply to teachers with life certiflcates.

ArchdiooeseIs application for Maplewood East project. Conmission has
approveal both thi.s project and the seperate Forest Green project. VilLage
Council has tsbLed Maplewood East, and, subJect to relatively minor
changes, approved Forest 0reen. Archaliocese believes lt needs Council
approval for Mallerood East o:r will losL out in competition for ferleraL
funds to Forest Green, uants Council to act on Mapleuood East because
propose<l lantl-uee' conformg to Village copprehensive plah, ailopted at this
time by Maplewood !l anning Commission--although not yet by Counoil.

Broatly agreed to follow up lette! to commission fron Charles r/eiger, who
wants to establish a youth resoulces comoissicn in the village.
Comnigsion agreed by consensus that as a matter of policy, Maplewood. shouldestablish voting places that do not, by physicat structure, make it clifficultor impossible for physically handicapped or disabled persons to vote. Broaclywill discuss problem with village clerk.
Bransford briefly described the Intercultural Ed.ucation Advisory Conmittee
for North St. Paul-Maplewood. school districl 62?_, of which he is a rnenber.It was established originally in reg.rd to the state hunan-re l ati ons - trainingrequire ent for teachersi persons in the district wanted thio treining to
be nore than q quick sunmer school course. Connittee has broad. community
]3epresentation, is working on curriculum for a good inservice training
progra:n r*hich, when done, it hopes the 522 school board will re.uire of a1l
te achers .
Grant proposed, and nembers agreed, that necember meeting should. be devotedsolely to di.scussion of conloissionrs goals and prioritles. Grant asked
menbers to come to December neeting prepared to present their re connend.at ions
on priorities.
Meher agreed to explore neaning of letter fron Donal-d lais, Mapler*oodvillage attorney, to Broaily. A Suprene Court d.ecision holtting that private
clubs uith segregationist practices nay hold public licenseg has no effect
on the Maplewood ordi.nance denying liquot licenses to whltes-only c1ubs,according t Lais.
