FONTAINE,a realtor.is look-
ing to improve communications
between the city and its resi-
dents.He also wants to take"a
good hard look"at the parks pro-
gram and keep the costs down.
Fontaine,city resident for 35
years,also wants to reduce
building permit costs for resi-
dential homes. He notes that
Maplewood fees average$1,000
a home,some$500 to$600 more
than what other communities
charge.
He belongs to the Maplewood
Lions club and the Knights of
Columbus.Fontaine and his wife,
LaVerne,have five children,
ages 14 to 21.
KENT,an advertising mana-
ger for 3M Co,,was appointed to
the council six months ago to fill
a council vacancy when Murdock
was moved into the mayor's
position.
Three years of service on the
city's planning commission has
helped me to understand the
problems of the whole city,"
Kent says.He favors"well
planned development in keeping
with Maplewood's comprehen-
sive plan."
Kent, who has lived in Maple-
wood 18 years,is a graduate of
Gustavus Adolphus and has done
graduate work at the University
of Minnesota. He and his wife,
Barbara,have three children,
ages 15 to 22.
