Thusday agreed to purchase six
lots that had been included in
the Maple Hills golf course
pack age the council previously
rej ec ted.
TILE LOTS located on Arcade
Ste(t south of County Road B,
will become a city park that res-
iden s say is much needed.
TI e 2.03 acres of property are
own'd by Ban Con, Inc. The
pure lase price is $27,000, to be
paid from city park funds. In
addi ion, about $5,000 in unpaid
asset sments will come from the
city f eneral fund.
B�N CON earlier this year
had proposed the sale of the
lots, the golf course and an of-
fice I,uil ding to the city.
Jori Lokensgard, 742 Burke
Ave. E., said the closest park
area for neighborhood young-
sters now is Edgerton School,
which is nearly a mile away,
with no sidewalks along the
way.
L()KENSGARD who is asso-
ciate superintendent for Rose-
ville School D strict 623, said a
seas h of district files shows 64
exile ren live within a two-block
area of the proposed park, not
cour ting those who attend paro-
chial schools.
Tl e council also authorized
the purchase of 1.93 acres of
land adjacent to Maplewood
Heil hts Park for a price of
$7,7:0.
In addition, the city will be
resp)nsible f o r assessements
from the Beam Avenue improve-
men:s, which will be about
$18,(D0. Those assessements will
be p.Lid from the general fund.
