taut the consultants suggest these costs
could be offset by obtaining a surcharge
to the water bills of Maplewood
customers.
The engineers also point out that total
expenditures for the retail system would
be$6.75 million less than the wholesale-
retail system.
In the report, the consultants point out
that the initial implementation costs for
the wholesale-retail system have jumped
from $6.8 million to about $10.2 million
since November, 1974,
Construction under the retail system is
staged according to five groups. Three
priority one items, which are recom-
mended for immediate construction,
would total about$1.5 million.
Those three projects include:
—APPROPRIATION of some $277,500
for construction of 24-inch water line from
Larpenteur ave.north along Flandrau st.
to Frost ave.,then west along Frost ave.
to Prosperity rd.
This portion of Maplewood, which is
served by the Hazelwood Pump station,is
not being served by machinery capable of
maintaining sufficient water pressures.
—CONSTRUCTION of a 1.5 million
gallon elevated storage tank at the in-
tersection of Gervais ave.and White Bear
ave. totaling about$1 million.
—INSTALLATION of a 16 inch water
line from Frost ave. north along English
st.to Cope ave.,then a 12-inch line west on
Cope ave.to Atlantic st.and a 12 inch line
from the intersection of Cope ave. and
English st. north to Highway 36.
