vice charge
Due to critical budgetary con-
siderations,the city council of Maplewood
has found it necessary to institute a
charge for ambulance services rendered
to ill and injured parties in the city.
Ambulance runs to a hospital will be$35
and other fees were set as follows: to
doctor's office not on stretcher in
Maplewood—$20, to doctor's office not on
stretcher outside Maplewood—$25 and
medical transportation to detoxification
center—$20. In a memo from City
Manager Mike Miller it is stated that the
council has stressed that at no time does it
want anyone declined ambulance service
due to the lack of ability to pay for the
service.
The city finance department will bill
people for the service. In extreme hard-
ship cases the city council has indicated
that a review will be made of the case on
an individual basis.
