According to the Maplewood Fire Chief, around 4 p.m. firefighters were called to a report of smoke at a residence on the 500 block of Larpenteur  Avenue East. Upon arrival, crews saw heavy smoke coming from the home. They were able to quell the smoke. Preliminary investigation found the fire appeared to start in a ceiling fan in the bathroom. It then moved to the attic. The attic sustained significant damage. Authorities say eight people, four adults and four kids, were displaced as a result of the fire, and the American Red Cross is providing assistance to them.
