The council also ap- proved raises for Maple- wood policemen after a long discussion about extra pay for night duty. Patrol- men's salaries were raised to approximately the level of a St. Paul patrolmen's wages; all other employees were given a five per cent pay raise. The policemen are nego- tiating with Michael Miller, village manager. for an insurance plan for on-the- job injuries. The police negotiators are also asking for extra pay for night duty and larg- er pay increases for.ser- geants. The council did not approve either request, but voted to study and consider them soon. Bids for the management of Maplewood's 1973 bond issue were opened during the meeting. The low bid for the $2,175,000 in perma- nent bonds was made by the i' American National Bank and Trust and Piper. Jaf- i fray and Hopwood with a predicted net interest rate I of 5.15 per cent. American National Bank and Trust i also made the low bid for I the $890,000 of temporary + bonds at a net interest rate of 4.80 per cent. The council accepted the resignations of Gerald Mogren from the planning commission and T. Jerome Enright, David Perrizo and Wed., Jun
