An overloaded circuit in the basement
of the Bernard Brown home, 1469
Grandview, caused a fire at about 1:50
p.m. last Tuesday according to
Maplewood fire chief Al Schadt.
The overload occured near the dryer in
the basement of the Brown home and
resulted in approximately $6,000 in
damages. Three fire trucks from the
Gladstone station and two from Parkview
mere needed to extinguish the blaze after
Mrs.Mrs.Brown spotted smoke while she
was at the neighbor's house.
According to Schadt the firemen in-
volved"did a really fine job in confining
the fire and putting it out to limit
damage."
There was heavy smoke damage to the
residence.
