The Maplewood council unanimously rejected a
proposal for the Parkwood Knolls development south
of Mailand Road at Thursday's meeting.
The village staff report said that until Mailand
Road is improved, the development will be impossi-
ble.It also said that the percentage of land devoted to
streets was too high, that the proposal would cause
higher population density than is desirable and that
there would be too much grading and destruction of
trees. both of
Mrs. John Severance and John Kirby,
whom own land adjacent to Parkwood Knolls, said
that the plans were not made with the development of
adjacent land in mind. They asked the council to re-
ject the plan.
The council showed interest in an overall street
plan for southern Maplewood. The councilmen agreed
that until some such plan were made, the Parkwood
Knolls plan would be premature.
