oppose plan
About 30 residents living in the area of
Radatz Avenue west of McKnight ap-
peared before the North St, Paul City
Council Monday, Aug. 2 protesting
proposed traffic plans in the area of their
homes.
And council members agreed the
proposed conditions are undesirable,
approving a resolution recommending
solutions to the traffic problems.
According to the plans, residents in that
area will have to drive over a mile to get
to White Bear Avenue because plans call
for Radatz to be shut off at White Bear
Avenue, allowing only right hand turns off
of White Bear onto Radatz.
Eventual final decisions,of c arse, are
up to they of Maplewood but the
recommenfi Ea o'ir'tr`om-Noeffi St. Paul is
that right hand turns from White Bear to
Radatz be approved and that Beam
Avenue be extended as a through street
from McKnight all the way to White Bear
Avenue and on to Highway 61.
"Some of the people at last week's
meeting were in favor of both right hand
turns from White Bear to Radatz and
right hand turns from Radatz to White
Bear," North St. Paul City Manager
Gerald Splinter said. "And some were in
favor of right hand turns from White Bear
to Radatz only.
"But it was agreed that the real
problem is Beam Avenue," Splinter
explained. "Now all we can do is
recommend what we feel to be the best
solution to the problems of the area."
