St. Paul rec centers, Salvation Army The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning for 1 p.m. Wednesday to 7 p.m. Friday overmuch of southern Minnesota, including the Twin Cities. Afternoon temperatures are expected to tap out in the mid-90s and, with humidity factored in, heat indices will touch the tripled igits. It won't coal dawn enough at night to offer significant relief, either, according to the weather service. "This combination of very hat daytime conditions with very warm overnight laws will result in very dangerous heat conditions," the weather service said it its heat warning. The fallowing centers will be open until 10 p.m Wednesday and Thursday: Arlington Hills Community Center, Battle Creek Recreation Center, El Ria Vista Recreation Center, Hancock Recreation Center, Highland Park Community Center, Oxford Community Center. St. Paul splash pads will be open to 9 p.m. LIBRARIES: The Maplewood and Roseville libraries will remain open until midnight Wednesday and Thursday. In St. Paul, the Rice Street, Randa, and Arlington Hills Libraries will remain open until 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. SALVATION ARMY: The Salvation Army's Twin Cities facilities will be available for cool -downs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily through Friday. The Salvation Army Center at 401 W. Seventh St. will offer free breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., and the center at 1019 Payne Ave. will offer free lunches at noon.
