JUST OPENED—A new business in the south end of Maplewood is the Maple Oaks Funeral Home
at 2585 Stillwater Rd.

With the finishing touches being ap- Planning for this new funeral home
plied, Maple Oaks Funeral Home is now began in February of 1973 and land was
in operation at 2585 Stillwater Rd., purchased from Ruth M. Whitehouse
Maplewood. Owned and operated by E. (Whitehouse Gardens,previously Perkins
Peter Vasey and David J. Thorsell. Brothers Greenhouse) on Aug. 15, 1974.
Maple Oaks Funeral Home was built Construction began in June of 1976 and an

He is married to Karen Vasey,who is a
nurse at St. John's Hospital.
David J.Thorsell was born and reared
in the East side of St. Paul also. He at-
tended and graduated from Farnsworth
Grade School,Cleveland Junior High and
Johnson Senior High.
Thorsell graduated from the University
of Minnesota with a B.S. in Mortuary
Science. He became a licensed Funeral
Director in 1972. He is single.
