A21 -year-old Roseville man died early Wednesday morning after crashing a vehicle into a tree in Maplewood.
Just before 2 a.m. police and medics were called to the area of Rice Street North and Roselawn Avenue West,
where they found the body of Miguel J. Martinez.
Martinez was driving south on Rice Street at a high rate of speed when his vehicle started to swerve, a witness said.
The vehicle then crossed over the northbound lane of traffic and struck a large tree about 100 yards north of the
intersection.
Police said it did not appear Martinez had a seat belt on. It was not immediately known whether alcohol was a
factor.
The Ramsey County medical examiner's office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
