`Superstars
competition
slated
Maplewood Community Services Dept.
will be sponsoring the first annual
"Superstars"competition for all youths
in the seventh to ninth grade.
Teams will consist of five participants
with a minimum of two girls on each
team.The registration fee is$2.50 per
team. Registration for teams on the
following dates from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m.in
the school hallways: John Glenn junior
high,Wednesday,April 7;Hillside junior
high, Thursday, April 8; Maplewood
junior high,Friday,April 9.
Team shirts will be awarded to the
championship and runner-up teams at
each school.A traveling trophy will be
presented to the school winning the
overall championship.Each team must
participate in all 10 events to be eligible.
Total points for the 10 events will deter-
mine the wimser.
Special events for the Superstars
competition are as follows:
Team Tug-O-War, Basketball shoot,
Obstacle course, Long distance run,
Football accuracy throw, Team broad
jump,Five legged race,Bowling pin and
tire competition, Frisbee accuracy
contest and Plastic golf ball relay.
Information sheets with detailed
description of each event are available at
the junior high schools at the time of
registration.Competition will begin the
week of April 12 and run for five weeks as
follows:
Mondays at Hillside junior high;
Tuesdays at Maplewood junior high;
Wednesdays at John Glenn junior high.
The time of competition each night is 6:30
to 9 p.m.If you have any questions con-
