Maplewood, received a certificate of
commendation for outstanding service
from the Minnesota Association of Civil
Defense Directors on Sept. 11. hlottaz
retired in August, after directing the
Maplewood Emergency Preparedness
Department for 20 years. The com-
mendation praised Mottaz's efforts for
having a siren system installed in the city
and starting an Emergency Operating
Center with standby power in the com-
munity.
