of the Maplewood Mall.
KEN MAHAL of L.K. Mahal
and Associates,
told the Maplewood City Council
recently he was trying to inter-
est an economy motel chain in
locating on land north of County
Road D at about Ariel Street.
Mahal is representing land-
owners Lorraine F. Becker and
Don, Rose, Richard and Thelma
Yurek and Anna, Ed and Helen
Dorle.
The developer needed and
received a change in the city's
land use plan. The City Council
approved altering the designated
use from medium density resi-
dential development to limited
commercial.
The motel could have from
105 to 150 units, Mahal predict-
ed. The office building might
have 26,000 to 27,000 square feet
of office space.
"WE LIKE the area and think
it has a potential," said Mahal.
"We're out aggressively trying to
find quality operators to come
into these(developments)."
He said he is not sure when de-
velopment will begin. It is de-
pendent upon the financial pic-
ture.
