feet,"McDaniels said.
He said he plans on opening
the doors this summer to start
selling the Japanese-made, gas-
efficient vehicles.
Council members voted 3-2 af-
ter
two citizens spoke against
granting McDaniels the approval
that will save him money on in-
terest rate payments.
"Of every$6,000 they (McDan-
iels)
sell, $5,000 goes to Japan,"
complained Donald Christianson
of 111 E. County Road C. "At one
end of the country we're financ-
ing Chrysler and at the other end
tax-exempt financing."

city should bother granting tax-
exempt financing when McDan-
iels has been committed to the
project for years.
McDaniels said he lost previ-
ous financing commitments
while successfully contesting a
court lawsuit to build his agency
at the location near Kohlman
Lake.
Nevertheless, Councilman
Norman Anderson said he ob-
jected to McDaniels beginning
construction before applying for
the notes and Councilwoman
Fran Juker joined Anderson in
opposition.
But Mayor John Greavu com-
mented, "We've given it (reve-
nue financing approval) before
and some (state) senators say we
