Home My WebLink About1977 07-20 Shopping center planned THE REVIEW Shopping center planned Design plans for a 12 unit shopping center were approved by the Maplewood City Council July 14.The center,to be located on the west side of White Bear Avenue,north of the Twin City Federal area of Maplewood Mall,would be termed "Maplewood Square." The center is being developed by the Maplewood Square Association. Bruce Peterson,a shopping center developer,is acting as consultant. The intent is to "create a development of small, ex- clusive shops,"with individual identities and common facias. The association presented two plans. The plans differ only in the fact that one contains a financial institution in the unit, The design of the center would resemble a rectangle,with a road encircling it. Ground is expected to be broken Oct.1, with occupancy April 1 of next year and opening,the following month.
