Maplewood residents will save$4,539.55
in their general obligation funds this year
as a result of an April 14 city council
action to refrain from purchasing a new
car for the deputy fire marshal.
Councilman Don Wiegert raised the
issue asking,"I'm wondering if we need
to furnish this kind of car for an in-
spector?" The staff had proposed to
purchase three new police cars and one
car for the deputy fire marshal.
The council voted to retain one of the
three used police cars for the deputy fire
marshal's use.
The three new police cars, which were
approved, will be Dodge Aspen four door
sedans.
