The Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association has certified Maplewood Police Chief Paul Schnell as a master practitioner, the
highest certification level in the association's new credentialing program.
Chief Schnell was awarded the Chief Law Enforcement Officer certification based on a review of his extensive law
enforcement experience, academic achievements, community service and professional contributions. He joined roughly two
dozen Minnesota police chiefs in receiving the certification, which the MCPA issues in conjunction with the POST Board, the
League of Minnesota Cities and representatives of higher education.
CLEO Certification is a continuing education and professional development program. Participation is voluntary and chiefs
must show their continued progress when they reapply for certification every three years.
