Terrence Jermaine Woods died after Maplewood police officials said they no longer suspect Enock Hassan being shot in the chest. (Courtesy of Mohamed was involved in the altercation. Marcus Collins) The dispute broke out Saturday night in a busy area outside Merwin Liquors after the victims refused to buy alcohol for a group of males parked outside in a white sedan, according to Maplewood Police Chief Paul Schnell. Mohamed was initially picked up because he was seen driving erratically in the area in a vehicle that matched the description of the suspects' car. He also told investigators he'd been in the vicinity at the time of the shooting. "Through corroboration and further investigation, we don't believe he had any involvement," Schnell said. "He was in the area but really not at the scene." Investigators are now turning to the public for help as they continue to pursue those involved in the deadly incident. Terrence Jermaine Woods, 25, died as a result of injuries sustained in the shooting. Jamil Isaiah Ellis, 24, suffered a gunshot wound in the leg and is expected to recover. A third man ran from the scene as he was being shot at. The three cousins were on their way into the liquor store when individuals sitting in a white car reportedly asked them to buy liquor. After a brief but heated verbal exchange, the men declined and walked into the store. As they exited the store and were returning to their car, which was parked beside the white vehicle, the individuals in that sedan started shooting. Woods and Ellis were taken to Regions Hospital, where Woods later died. "It's absurd. It's absolutely absurd that something so minimal and small can end up in murder," Schnell said of the suspects' motive. "We certainly regard these people as representing a http://www.twincities.com/NewsBreaking/ci_26808968/Seen-this-car?-Its-wanted-in-Maplewo... 10/30/2014 Seen this car? It's wanted in Maplewood liquor-store shooting death-TwinCities.com Page 2 of 2 substantial public safety threat and we are hopeful that members of the public can come forward and help us and help hold them accountable." Information about the suspects is scant at this point. Surveillance video captured in the liquor store parking lot show's the car's color, but it's not clear enough to make out its exact make or model.Witnesses said it was either a Chevy Impala or a Honda Accord. The video also shows the car sitting in the parking lot for more than 30 minutes before the shooting,Schnell said. "They were there for a long time,so we're hoping and we believe that they probably didn't limit their attempts to get alcohol to a conversation with(the victims),"Schnell said."We're hoping others were approached or may have seen them.We want to know what the vehicle was, where it may be,who was in it,because obviously we know that this vehicle was where those shots were fired from." Police want to speak with anyone who: --Saw the white car with three or more people in it parked outside Merwins liquor store at 1600 Rice St. --Witnessed the argument outside the liquor store just before the shooting about 8:30 p.m. --Saw the shooting. --Was approached with a request to purchase alcohol at the liquor store. --Saw a white car speed onto northbound Rice Street that evening about 8:35 p.m. --Knows the identity and/or whereabouts of the suspects involved in the shooting.
