James Edward Allen,42,and Carlton Davis,52,reportedly held up a TCF bank branch inside a Cub Foods grocery story at County Road B and Rice Street around 9:15 a.m.,according to Maplewood Police Chief Paul Schnell. Allen is accused of passing a note to a teller demanding cash before leaving the branch with an undisclosed amount of money. Davis is suspected of casing the bank earlier that day and driving the vehicle used to facilitate the robbery,Schnell said.An image of his face was reportedly captured on the bank's surveillance camera. The vehicle involved was stolen from St.Paul in the area of Rice Street and Pennsylvania Avenue around 8:40 a.m.Wednesday. Police were led to Allen that evening after he allegedly used money marked by red dye to pay for a room at the Days Inn on University Avenue in St. Paul,Schnell said.
