HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014 10-01 Public Notices MAPLEWOOD REVIEW CITY OF MAPLEWOOD ORDINANCE NO.942 RELATING TO REGULATION OF DANGEROUS DOGS AMENDING CHAPTER 10, ARTICLE III,DIVISION 5 OF THE MAPLEWOOD CITY CODE On September 22, 2014, the Maplewood City Council approved amendments to the ordinance which regulates dangerous dogs. A summary of the amendments to the ordinance follows: • Dogs deemed potentially dangerous will be seized if,after 14 days of final determination, the owner of the dog has not complied with requirements of the section. • Dogs deemed potentially dangerous may be reclaimed upon payment of the impounding and boarding fees and upon presentation of proof that the requirements of the ordinance have been fulfilled. • Bond/Insurance amount requirements for dogs deemed dangerous have been increased to reflect current amounts required by §347.51 subd.2.In addition,equal amounts are required for dogs deemed potentially dangerous. •Tags obtained for dogs deemed dangerous must include a design approved by the Minnesota Commissioner of Public Safety. • Owners of dogs deemed dangerous or potentially dangerous, who rent the property where the dog will reside,are required to submit proof that they have informed the owner of the property that the person owns a dangerous or potentially dangerous dog that will reside at the property. • Warning symbols obtained for dogs deemed potentially dangerous must include a design approved by the Minnesota Commissioner of Public Safety. •The following items have changed from being possibly required for dogs deemed potentially dangerous, to being required: Proper enclosure Bond/Insurance Photograph EFFECTIVE DATE.This ordinance shall become effective as of the date of its publication.
