Lake to Save Woman Who Fled,
Three law enforcement officers jumped into a Hudson, Wisconsin,
lake to rescue a woman who drove into the water while trying to
evade police.
Officers tried to stop the woman in Maplewood about 3 a.m. on a
traffic violation. She tried to flee and led authorities on a
several -mile chase and drove into Lake Mallalieu in St. Croix
County, Wisconsin. The lake is near Hudson and the St. Croix
River.
A Washington County deputy and two Woodbury police officers
jumped into the water, broke windows of her van and pulled her
out before the van sank.
She was unconscious and taken to a hospital.
