Maplewood police are looking for 4 -year-old Daniel Marcel Sheppard, Jr., who is believed to be with his non-custodial

Update: Maplewood Police Chief Paul Schnell said this morning the boy was found and returned to his
mother early today.
Maplewood police are asking for help finding a 4 -year-old boy taken by his non-custodial father.
Daniel Marcel Sheppard, 38, picked up his son, Daniel Marcel Sheppard Jr. about 1:30 p.m. Thursday to
bring him to a friend's house, police said. Neither have been seen since.
Sheppard was driving an acquaintance's vehicle he took without permission, police said. The vehicle
was found abandoned the next day at a Lino Lakes Dairy Queen.
Investigators said Sheppard's cellphone is disconnected and he's made statements over the past six
months about leaving town with his son. He has connections to people in Marshall, Minn.; Sheldon,
Iowa; and Sioux Falls, S.D.
Police ask anyone with information to call the Maplewood Police Department at 651-767-0640 or send
an anonymous tip by texting the keyword Maplewood followed by the tip information to TI P411 (847411).
