Registration for community garden plots at Egerton
Community garden plots are available for rent at the corner of Roselawn Avenue E. and Edgerton Street in Maplewood. The
city will stake the plots and provide a water tank. Renters must agree to plant, maintain and harvest their plots using organic
chemical -free methods. The season runs from April 29 through Oct. 21. Each 12 foot by 15 foot plot costs $25 for the season.
Returning Gardener registration began Feb. 17. New Gardener registration began March 9 and ends March 31. An open
house is planned for April 29, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. To register visit www.mapiewoodmn.gov. For more information or help

Selecting native trees and shrubs for pollinators
Author Heather Holm will present and share her extensive knowledge of our native pollinators March 19, from 10-11:15 a.m
at the Maplewood Nature Center. This talk will focus on beneficial trees and shrubs for bees.
Learn aboutwhich canopy trees, small trees and shrubs are insect -pollinated and the types of pollinators each plant attracts.
Factors influencing pollinator visitation including flower structure, flower resources, flowering phenology and the plant
community where the woody plant occurs will also be discussed. Her book Pollinators of Native Plants will be for sale
afterward.
The cost is $20. Seating is limited, and registration closes March 18. To register online
