A former Maplewood night club bouncer was convicted in federal court Monday for tax fraud that netted
him more than $200,000 in ill-gotten refunds.
Jurors found John Hunter Sr., 46, of Eagan, had filed tax returns that claimed far more income than he
earned in 2009 as a bouncer for Club Rage Inc. The company was at the time the owner of Myth nightclub in
Maplewood.
He also filed fraudulent returns in 2010 and 2012 in the names of dozens of other people, recruiting the
filers and offering to do the paperwork for them, but faking their wage and employment information.
He was convicted of filing at least 45 such returns.
Hunter's sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
