THE CITY OF MAPLEWOOD IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS TO FILL OPENINGS ON THE FOLLOWING
COMMISSIONS:
Heritage Preservation Commission (1 opening)
Housing & Economic Development Commission (1 opening)
Human Rights Commission (2 openings)
Parks & Recreation Commission (1 opening)
Planning Commission (2 openings)
These openings are due to terms expiring and resignations. The City Council will interview candidates that apply and will
appoint individuals to fill these openings.
More information on the commissions can be found on the City's websitewww.ci.maplewood.mn.us or by calling City Hall at
651-249-2000. Applications can be picked up at the City Hall front desk or found on the City's website. Applications are
accepted at any time. However, in order to take part in the next scheduled interview session you must submit your application
by April 20, 2015. Completed applications should be submitted to the City Manager's Office at 1830 County Road B E,
Maplewood, MN 55109.

ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
The City Council of Maplewood, Minnesota will receive sealed bids for the construction of the following projectwithin the city
limits on the basis of cash payment for the work:

CSAH 25 (CR B) Trail Improvements
The projectwill include the following approximate quantities:
3,600 TON, Bituminous Wear Course Mixture
950 LF, Bituminous Curb
1,800 CY, Common Excavation
1,000 CY, Aggregate Base Class 6
130 LF, RC Pipe Storm Sewer
6 EA, Storm Sewer Structures
5,200 SF, Concrete Walk
6,800 SY, Turf Establishment
1 SIG SYS, Signal System
1 EA, Rain Gardens
Construction operations shall be started on June 8, 2015 or within eight (8) Calendar Days after the date of Notice of Contract
Approval, whichever is later, and be completed by October 30, 2015.
Bids will be received until 10:00 A.M. on the 15th day of April, 2015, atthe municipal building, 1830 County Road B East,
Maplewood, Minnesota, at which time and place all bids will be publicly opened, read aloud, and considered. There will be a
pre-bid meeting at 10:00 a.m. on April 7, 2015 located atthe City of Maplewood Public Works Building.
Itis anticipated thatthe contractwill be awarded atthe May 11th, 2015 City Council Meeting.
Proposals must be placed in a sealed envelope with the statement thereof "BID FOR CITY PROJECT 14-02, CSAH 25 (CR B)
TRAIL IMPROVEMENTS." Proposals shall be submitted to the city clerk on or before the above stated time. Proposal is for the
furnishing of all labor, equipment, and materials and performing all work in connection with the above stated construction.
PLANHOLDERS LIST, ADDENDUMS AND BID TABULATION: The planholders list, addendums and bid tabulations will be
available for download on-line at www.ci.maplewood.mn.us or www.questcdn.com. Any addendums may also be distributed by
mail, fax or email. TO OBTAIN BID DOCUMENTS: Complete digital project bidding documents are available
at wwwci.maplewood.mn.us orwww.questcdn.com. You may view the digital plan documents for free by entering Quest
project #3774188 on the website's Project Search page. Documents may be downloaded for $20.00. Please contact

and working with this digital project information.
All bids must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond, payable to the City of Maplewood, Minnesota, in an amount
equal to five percent (5%) of the total bid, conditioned that if the bidder is the successful bidder, they will enter into a contract
in accordance with said bid and will furnish such performance bonds as are specified. No bidder may withdraw their bid for at
least 90 days after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids, without the consent of the owner. The city reserves the
right to reject any or all bids. The city also reserves the right to waive any minor irregularities and deviations; however, any
bid which contains a material variance from plans and specifications will be rejected. A material variance is one that gives a
bidder a substantial benefit or advantage not enjoyed by other bidders.
Minimum wage rates to be paid by the Contractors have been predetermined and are subject to the Work Hours Act of 1962,
P.L. 87-581 and implementing regulations.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation hereby notifies all bidders:
in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Act), as amended and Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations,
Subtitle A Part 21, Non-discrimination in Federally -assisted programs of the Department of Transportation, it will affirmatively
assure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, disadvantaged business enterprises will be afforded
maximum opportunity to participate and/or to submit bids in response to this invitation, and will not be discriminated against

phases of the highway construction industry, and that on any project constructed pursuant to this advertisement equal

The following notice from the Minnesota Department of Human Rights applies to all contractors:
"It is hereby agreed between the parties that Minnesota Statute, section 363A.36 and Minnesota Rules, parts 5000.3400 to
5000.3600 are incorporated into any contract between these parties based on this specification or any modification of it. A
copy of Minnesota Statute 363A.36 and Minnesota Rules, parts 5000.3400 to 5000.3600 is available upon request from the
contracting agency."
"It is hereby agreed between the parties thatthis agency will require affirmative action requirements be met by contractors in
relation to Minnesota Statute 363A.36 and Minnesota Rules 5000.3600. Failure by a contractor to implement an affirmative
action plan or make a good faith effort shall result in revocation of its certificate or revocation of the contract (Minnesota
Statute 363A.36, Subd. 2 and 3)."
A minimum goal of 9.8% Good Faith Effortto be subcontracted to Disadvantaged Business Enterprises.
