A panel of judges, after watching, listening, and then individually critiquing eight Class AA dramatic productions, rated Hill -
Murray School's "The Great Gatsby" a "starred performance" on Friday, Feb. 13, during the 2015 State One Act Play Festival
sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League. The two-day festival was conducted at O'Shaughnessy Auditorium
on the St. Catherine University campus in St. Paul.
Representing Section 4, Hill-Murray's "starred performance" of "The Great Gatsby," was adapted by Simon Levy, directed by
Ben Ballentine and technically directed by Tyler Morris.
Hill -Murray, which is located in Maplewood, was making its seventh festival appearance. This was their fifth "starred"
performance; they earned their previous "stars" in 1993, 1995, 1996, and 2000. In this production, Jay Gatsby, a self-made
millionaire, passionately pursues the elusive Daisy Buchanan. Nick Carraway, a young newcomer to Long Island, is drawn
into their world of obsession, greed and danger. The breathtaking glamour and decadent excess of the Jazz Age come to the
stage in F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, and in Simon
Levy's adaptation, approved by the Fitzgerald Estate. Cast members were Griffin Egan, Sally Franco, Jack Blaney, Riley
Petty, Elyse Youngdahl, Nick Shaw, Jake Miller, Ella Dostal,
Abby Vakulskas, Justin Mackey, Mikayla Mariano, Elizabeth Schaan, Grace Nelson, William Sutherland, Henry Koller, and
