Political preview
The annual "Conversations with Constituents" meeting sponsored by the Roseville -Maplewood -Falcon Heights chapter of the
League of Women Voters, constituents can meet their legislators for a preview of the upcoming legislative session.
The event will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 21 at Falcon Heights City Hall, 2077 Larpenteur Ave. W., Falcon Heights.
Elected officials from state, county, and local governments will meet with League members and other interested citizens to
discuss issues of concern to constituents.
Officials invited are: Sens. John Marty, Bev Scalze and Chuck Wiger; Reps. Peter Fischer, Alice Hausman, Jason Isaacson,
and Leon Lillie; Ramsey County Commissioners Blake Huffman, Mary Jo McGuire, Victoria Reinhardt and Janice Rettman
and Mayors Jeffrey Dains, Lauderdale, Peter Lindstrom, Falcon Heights, Dan Roe, Roseville and Nora Slawik, Maplewood.
The event is free and open to the public.
Handling stress
Guardian Angels Church, 8260 Fourth Street N, Oakdale, will feature Dr. Amit Sood of the Mayo Clinic for "Stress -Free Living:
Practical Tools for Living a Meaningful Life" from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22.
Sood will present both his personal anecdotes and research to help the audience understand and change methods of
handing stress. The presentation is appropriate for anyone from middle school students to senior citizens. There is no
admission charge, but freewill offerings are appreciated. For more information, go to www.guardian-angels.org.
State legislators appear at town hall meetings
State Senator Chuck Wiger (DFL -Maplewood) will be hosting two town hall meetings on Saturday, Jan. 24 to discuss issues
being addressed this legislative session. The meeting times, locations and co -hosts are detailed as follows:
• 9:30 a.m. at Mahtomedi City Hall, 600 Stillwater Road, Mahtomedi. Wiger will be joined by State Rep. Peter Fischer of
Maplewood
• 10:30 a.m. at Maplewood City Hall, 1830 County Road B, Maplewood. Wiger wil be joined by State Reps. JoAnn Ward of
Woodbury and Leon Lillie of North St. Paul and State Sen. Susan Kent, Woodbury.
Town hall meetings give constituents an opportunity to meet their local legislators and discuss important state issues being
addressed at the Capitol. The public is invited to attend and join the conversation.

The North St. Paul Fire Department held its annual Fire Department Banquet Jan. 9. The banquet is intended to honor both
past and present firefighters, as well as those who retired in 2014.
Outstanding 2014 retiree Brook Danner had over 17 years of service in firefighting and emergency medical service for the
department, serving from Oct. 18, 1996 to Aug. 26, 2014.
Ron Koehnle was presented the firefighter of the year award for his 28 years of service to the department. He continues to
have excellent participation in all areas of the fire department, including First Responder, participation in fire calls and drills
as well as community events.
Captain Ryan Anderson and Firefighter Zach Rasmussen were presented with The Chiefs Award of Excellence in
recognition of their outstanding work and performance for duties that go above and beyond those required by their positions.
