The dog was rescued from Round Lake Sunday morning after a man tried rescuing the dog himself before calling police. John Finn said he was on his first walk of the year around the lake. "I saw eagles and I saw pileated woodpeckers and I saw all kinds of woodpeckers and stuff and I'm like, `Wow!"' Finn said. "And then, I saw something out there in the water and I went, `Oh, is that an otter?"' Finn got into the water himself to try to rescue the dog but quickly realized he had to call professionals. Members of the Ramsey County Water Patrol arrived at the scene with their air boat and safely rescued the dog, bringing the dog back to shore. The dog was taken to a nearby vet's office. Maplewood police said they hope the vet can identify the dog and return it to its owners. Police said it was a good training exercise in the event they ever have to rescue a person from dangerously thin ice. http://www.wday.com/news/m i nnesota/3986126-crews-rescue-dog-thin-ice-I ake 2/2
