"Under the current circumstances and based (on)Mr. Tennin's extensive history of
involvements with the criminal justice system,we regard him as a risk to public safety,"said Maplewood Police Chief Paul
Schnell.
The couple reportedly argued right before the shooting. Todd Tennin, who goes by Larry, took off shortly afterward, Schnell
said.
Officers discovered his vehicle Sunday night outside a residence in Brooklyn Park.At the time, police said they thought he
had left the vehicle and fled in another one. The second vehicle was found Monday morning in Minneapolis, Schnell said.
Although a gun was recovered at the Maplewood home, police do not know if it was the weapon used in the shooting,
Schnell said.
Three children, ages 12, 15 and 16,were inside the house when police and medics responded to the scene. Two of the
children are April Tennin's. The third was a friend.
The couple married in January 2014, according to court records.
April Tennin, who has at least three children, changed the children's last name to Tennin about four months ago, court '
records say.
She worked for Ramsey County in the financial services division.
Todd Tennin's criminal history dates back to 2001,when the then-16-year-old was convicted of second-degree assault. His
has since been convicted of disorderly conduct, illegal possession of a pistol and firearm, driving under the influence and
malicious punishment of a child, court records say.

He was sentenced Feb.4, 2011,for weapons possession and released May 12, 2014,to Intensive Supervised Release by
Ramsey County Community Corrections, according to the Minnesota Department of Corrections.
Unlawful weapon possession also landed him in jail for about 28 months from 2007 to 2009.
He is wanted on a warrant by the Department of Corrections for violating the terms of his supervised release, police say.
Court records indicate April Tennin had a troubled history with a woman with whom Todd Tennin had a child. She was
granted a harassment restraining order against the woman in August 2014. Handwritten notes included in her request for
the order indicate the woman repeatedly called April Tennin and threatened her life, court records say.
Schnell said Todd Tennin is the only suspect in the shooting.
Relatives of the Tennins could not be reached for comment.
Officers have been called to the Tennin residence numerous times since last spring for domestic-related issues, but none
of the incidents involved disputes between April and Todd Tennin, Schnell said.
Anyone with information about Todd Tennin's whereabouts is asked to call Maplewood police at 651-249-2600 or 911.
