Two of the siz Maplewood fire department employees placed on administrotive leave following concems about employee conduct on a recent
medical call are back to work.
Part-time firefighters and emergency medical lechnicians Reid Troxel and Joe Kerska were reinstated to active tluty Tuesday morning,
according to Maplewood City Manager Melinda Coleman.
Meanwhile lhe city's fre chief,Steve Lukin,assis�ant fire chief,Clarence"Butch"Gervais,and full-time firefighters and paramedics Richard
Dawson and Mike Streff remain on leave as ihe city con�inues to investigate the personnel complaint.
It was fled last week after Maplewood medics opled lo stop resuscitating a dying 71-year-old nursing home patient Aug.7 a�the request oi her
husband.

was reportedly no advance health care directive available for her at lhe scene.
While the medics have been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing,a leng�hy Maplewood policy on resuscitation indicates that ci�y-employed
medics are expected to continue resuscitation effoRS unless ihe"family,patient or staif...present(a)resuscitation guidelines form."
The city has not disclosed who filed the complaint.
Coleman said Tuesday that she did not know how much longer the investigation would�ake.
"We will make an announcement when we can,"Coleman said.
