Ttvo upcoming events in Maplewood aim to teach residents about the dwindling bee population.
The city will host a pollinator training course from io a.m.to 4 p.m.Sept.i2 at the Maplewood
Nature Center,2659 E Seventh St.
The free course will teach attendants how to identify honey bees and native bees and diwlge various
methods for monitoring the insect populations.Participants will receive a Citizen Scientist
Pollinator Monitoring Guide and are asked to wear walking shoes,pants and a long-sleeve shirt and
to bring along a hat,sunglasses,lunch and water.
Attendants can test their new skills the next day at a bee monitoring event from i p.m.to 4 p.m.at
Fish Creek Natural Area.
There,participants will survey the pollinators and learn about the Fish Creek restoration effort.
